Statistics: Russia’s inflation at 0.2% Oct 18–Mon, 4.6% from Jan 1

MOSCOW, Oct 26 (PRIME) -- Russia’s inflation accelerated to 0.2% from October 18 through Monday after 0.1% a week ago, and reached 4.6% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of October, consumer prices grew by 0.5%, the service said.

Prices for eggs rose 2.1% in the reported period, for butter 1.1%, for chicken, meat preserves, milk, sour cream, fat cottage cheese and cheese 0.3–0.6%. Buckwheat prices fell 1.1%, sugar prices 0.5%, and prices for rice and wheat 0.4%.

Fruit and vegetable prices grew 0.9%.

Gasoline and diesel fuel prices were unchanged.
